ive got a dana 35 that makes a whining noise under no load, its really loud. as soon as i tap the gas when in gear it goes right away. Im thinking that its the pinion bearing because when i shake the driveshaft around there is some play in it. if anyone can give some info on what they might think it is please let me know. -chas
Take off your drive shaft off and see if you can move the pinion in and out. I have had the nut come loose that holds the pinion in and had that exact noise and problem. Avoid driving it anymore becuse your just going to damage it even more and cause more money to be spent
