AX5 transmission from 89 to 94

My brother has an 89 YJ 2.5. He needs a new transmission. He got one from an 94 YJ. He noticed that the bell housing is different and that it has an external slave cylinder. Will the 94 transmission still work if we swap out the bell housing?

Thanks,

It will work, you just need to swap out all the clutch components too

Finish it up with an external when you reinstall worth it all the way.

I just did this on my 91 w/2.5. Definitely the way to go. If you can find a new master cylinder complete with fluid you do not even have to bleed the system. A simple bolt on process.
