Ax5 trans trouble no gears work but 4th

When using 1,2,3 the trans made a whining sound driving on highway using 5th and the trans made grinding noise and didn't go anymore found out 4th still works was able to drive it 120 miles in 4th to get home I understand the 4th gear is 1:1 but what should I look for to see why all the other gears including reverse dont work? Thanks

I have an extra Ax5 for sale that works fine but the ship would be to much i think.

ALL gears require the input shaft to drive the counter shaft in order to transfer power, all EXCEPT 4th gear. I suspect you have a bad input shaft or counter shaft.

I would recommend buying a used AX5 & rebuilding it. The trouble with rebuilding yours is that there may be a LOT of collateral damage internally.
