AX15 External Slave Questions....

I just picked one up and am going to do the swap. I need a close up of the throwout bearing and arm that it sits on. I know there is a clip that holds the arm to the ball but what about the slave side? Does the plunger need to be attached to the arm of does it just push against it? Do I need to grease up the tube that the throwout bearing slides on after I install a new one? I have done a half dozen tranny jobs but all with internal slaves so I am new to the external set up. Any photos or info would be greatly appreciated.

I can't access photobucket at the moment but do have a photo or 2 I will try to post up later on. There is no device that holds the ext slave plunger into its rest on the clutch fork, it just rests in the dimple. Lube for the snout of the input bearing retainer for the TO bearing to ride on is a light coat of molybdenum lithium disulfide grease. The black stinky stuff...just a light coat. There are clips built into the TO bearing to hold it to the clutch fork.
Key thing to NOT do is to cut the white plastic shipping straps on the plunger of the ext slave. Assemble it intact, and the straps snap the first time you depress the clutch pedal.

my external slave just has a rod that "floats" in between the slave and the clutch fork. Don't forget the lube the pivot point on the clutch fork.

Not the best photos in the world for what you wanted, but this is all I've got here. Hope it helps. This is on an AX5, but the mechanism is identical.

Interesting -- I don't have that retainer on my AX-15. Nor did my AX-5 have it.

Ummmm, to which retainer are you referring.......we could be on the cusp of figuring out something in your other thread.

OP--sorry, we don't mean to highjack your thread. Glad the photos seemed to have helped.
