ok guys i know its been gone over a thousand times that these trannys are a piece of sh*t. so now that my second ax-5 is starting to crap out on me i figure i better start looking for any way to swap somthing else in there. so my question is has anyone actualy swaped somthing else in there yj in place of the ax-5 and i mean first hand expierience no well i heard you can do this because from all the write ups i have found nothing has been the least bit helpful. i spoke to a guy at Advanced adapters and he said the only thing that he knows that will work is the NV4500 but he also said that the 4 banger wont give off enough power to turn the tranny over. so please guys i know some of you are very crafty individuals and can make just about anything work. i need advice, or else im going to yank the entire drive train and thow the 4.0 in there matted to the NV3500, but i would rather keep my 4 banger any help will be greatly appreciated thanks for listening to my rambeling

I feel you on this situation. I do not have personal experience with a swap yet, however, I'm gathering info on swapping in a dodge AX-15. Here are some links to info and writeups that may help you. It seems to be one of the most straight forward. Let me know if you wind up doing it, because I'm planning this when funds are right.

Here's the JF thread which has a very informative link to a thread about this on PBB.
