AX-15 manual

on the way to a trail run today the transmission messed up today. as i came off the highway and tried to downshift it would not go back into a gear. all i have is nuetral left to right. pulled the shift tower but nothing looks out of place. sent it to the transmission shop and had to skip the trail run made that the jeep broke but glad it did not wait till i got back in those steep rocky hills a long way from anywhere. my question is has anyone had this problem, what was it and how much did it cost you. also if this is going to get expencive it might be worth replacing with a new transmission, has anyone had to do this and how much was it?

Had this happen on my peugot trans, turns out the a piece of the shifter itself broke off inside the transmission. I was able to pop the shifter out, fish the piece out of the trans and weld it back together and it's been working fine ever since. Your problem basically has to be something like that or a broken shift fork.

I had the syncros on gears 2 and 4 start to fail, but then my input shaft bearing ultimately went, causing the transmission to be unusable. It cost me $150 for a used transmission that I've got 2 years on.

we looked at what we could see of the forks and did not see anything wrong, that kind of my concern. he's going to have to pull it and take it apart just to see if its worth fixing, maybe i'd be better off if the price was right for a new or rebuilt. pull the old and put in the new, low labor cost.

I know a place near me where I've gotten a transmission, a motor, and other Jeep parts for cheap. I'm not sure what's available in Oklahoma, but it would be worth looking for a Jeep junkyard to scope out prices.

This sounds like the slave cylinder and not the tranny.

Do you have pressure in your clutch pedal? Maybe you got a bad slave. If you cant put the tranny in gear I would check the slave first.

Just to be sure, I'd have someone depress the clutch pedal and you should get under and watch the slave push the throwout lever.
