Avenger Supercharger install

Here is a brief writ up on my blower install I did last year.

Starts off with a blower from Avenger Supercharger for Colorado.

The install wasnt too bad to do.

Remove stock throttle body and throw it in the pile. Attach the adapter plate to the intake manifold. This is what the blower sits on.

Attach the blower/intercooler assembly to the adapter plate.

Under neath the blower is the heat exchanger.
Next, is to run an oil cooler line from the oil pressure sending unit. I t'd off the line, with the sending unit on one side and the hose going to the blower on the other. The oil line goes into the top of the blower, and a return comes out a few inches lower. The return gets plumed back into the oil pan.

The throttle body hangs off the back of the blower with a k&n cone filter.
I had to do some funky belt routing, and also added another idler pulley to stop some belt squeeling.

In the end, i had it dyno'd and it produced about 125 hp at the rear wheels with 140 ftlbs TQ.

Nice . Everyone here asks about supercharging/turbocharging the 2.5, and now we finally have a writeup! I wouldn't do this personally, but that's just because I don't think my engine could handle it. How does it drive as compared to before the install?

How much boost? 6-8 lbs.?

Also, in the second to last pic, what's the small round canister with coolant(?) hose attached to it?

What about fuel? I assume that since it was dyno'd they took A:F/R readings? Any issues with it running lean at full throttle? If so, what was done to correct it?

Nice! I've always wanted to do something like this to my 2.5 since the typical bolt-ons(intake, tb. spacer, header & exhaust) would only yield 10-12 hp, maybe. Oh, & the lil' round canister looks like a coolant-return reservoir, he just replaced that lil' crappy plastic factory one. How's the MPG & drivability? Taken' her off-road yet? We'd all like to know.

The canister is the pump for the water to air intercooler.

There is also a Split Second FTC-1 Air/fuel/timing management computer. I can control the air/fuel mixture at any rpm and boost pressure. I can also retard the timing.

I am running a 6 lb pulley, but it takes 2 lbs just to turn the blower. My laptop interfaces through the FTC1, and shows 4.5lbs of boost. The afr computer also has an internal 2-bar map sensor.

The blower really helps off road. It keeps the rpm's up, allowing me to select a higher gear. But i am swapping an auto into it this winter to help. I have a TF999 to go in.

That blower looks HUGE on that little 2.5!

Nice to see someone add forced induction to the squirrels. And good choice on the Split Second controller. Although I have no experience with it, I've read it's the best and about the only way to get the 2.5 to run right when you feed it boost. I've been considering a custom turbo build-up for mine in the future (maybe this summer ), and that's the same unit I'll probably end up using. The supercharger is definitely better for off-road use, but I love the sound of a turbo And with how much on-road driving I do, it'd definitely turn heads.

Any plans to beef up any of the internals or add more boost at some point? I'm considering rebuilding my old 2.5 block and doing some minor work to beef it up internally. Along with some minor head work as well

I sold mine on Ebay 5 years ago these things are garbage.. better to just upgrade to 6cyl. I couldnt even notice the boost and you have to use super unleaded. Not to bash your Jeep but just want to inform anyone thinking about doing this. Sold it for 1 grand..
