auto to manual swap Help!!!!

Ok,so here it is, first off i love all ur answers you guys know ur stuff. Neways, i have a 95 wrangler yj. It was an automatic, my buddy has a parts jeep (93 yj manual). Both have the 2.5 only difference im auto and he is manual. I decided to take all his components and transform mine into a manual. Installation was smoothe and everything is done. Went to start up the jeep. It fired and idles normal. When i shift into 1st,2nd,3rd,and 4th i could do so with or without engaging the clutch and the jeep doesnt move. Now when i try shifting into 5th or my reverse gear i have to engage the clutch or it will grind. When i let the clutch out you could hear the tranny spinning inside but the jeep still wont move. If you put it in gear and push it it isnt stopped by the tranny being in gear. Im told that it might be the throw out berring sticking, making the clutch unable to grab back onto the flywheel, or is it the clutch and the slave making it incapible of catching into gear. I figured id ask because it is 200 dollars to replace the clutch and the slave. Ne ideas?

Is the transfer case in neutral?

Hmmm. Did the trans work before the swap? You said it was a parts Jeep? Sounds like something is broke in the trans.

Yea, he snapped the frame rails in 2 places, bought a new one and uses that one for parts. Everything sounds normal when its in gears and all. Idk it just seams like the clutch isnt grabbing onto the flywheel and we bled the clutch line

now the tranny spline spins with the tcase off. im starting to think the auto tcase is different from the manual tcase

Yes, the ax-5 manual has a 21 spline output shaft where the TF auto you took out has 23. The ax-15 has 23 also. You need to either find an input shaft for your transfer case that is 21 spline, find a 21 spline transfer case, or throw an ax-15 in there. I'm surprised you got it to go together!

lol.me 2. how much do those things cost from a yard. im thinkin like 100. since i gotta drop the trans again 2 imma put a fresh clutch and slave cylander in there 2 im done ****tin around with this thing lol

A yard that I frequent I can probably pull one for like $20. Your mileage may vary, but I wouldnt imagine much more than about $100. I would find a cherokee/comanche that has a 4 banger and a manual trans as wranglers are non-existant in yards around here. As soon as they hit the ground (once in a blue moon) they are stripped clean.
A couple years ago I managed to find a body tub, had to buy it immediately as there was 2 guys in line behind me asking about it. The yard had just set it in its spot 2 hours before. A week later we picked up the frame for my old man, only reason it was around still was that there was a bunch of mounts cut off it and people didnt think it was worth the work.

Put in a new flywheel while you are in there.
They machined it flat and flywheels are supposed to have a bevel.

thanks alot guys. got it runnin, turned out the transfer case was the source of all my problems. next project is frame swap : ) o joy lol.
