Planning to (eventually) put an auto locker on the front of mine (d30 also). You shouldnt have problems when not in 4wd, as the axle is disconnected, allowing the locker to spin.

On the trail, I hear that you can feel the locker (as in the vehicle wants to continue straight when you turn), but it isnt bad. I hear once you lock her down there's no stopping you. Im saving my pennies for an 8.8 to get rid of the turdy-5 in the rear, then put the locker in the front while Im regearing it.

If your question is geared more towards the lack of power steering with the locker up front, yeah I can imagine it'll be rough. Start lifting weights now! The posilock in this situation would be your best bet because you can unlock and lock at your leisure without snapping your humorous. It's not funny, despite the name.

It's not funny to have your wheeling trip cut short because you have to drive your buddy to the hospital because he did something stupid and threw caution to the wind. Bunch of selfish jerks out there on the trail! Its a sore subject, ask me how I know...

I say put a locker in it. You will notice your steering getting a lot tougher on the trails. My buddy locked his front on his sammy and when he hit a big rock the steering wheel would jerk and spin pretty good. At some tight turns I even had to jump out and unlock a hub, haha. Of course he had manual steering. You'll adjust to it though and I think the added traction is well worth it.

Don't be a wuss! Put a locker in. The extra traction is worth it. Back in the day, nobody had power steering and we managed. I know, I know, I'm old, but even us old guys could handle a little tougher steering for the 5% of the time we're in 4X4. Do It!!

If you still have the disconnect the locker is going to be fine.

I am pretty sure you will be fine. If the steering gets too much now you have an excuse to install power steering.

You know I was kidding right? I've been in the ER/Hospital enough in the last couple of months to know I don't wanna see any of my buddies there.

I knew you were kidding too, I have a dry sense of humor hence the anatomy jokes.

I know about your hospital visits and am smart enough not to joke with hypocrisy sitting on my shoulder.

Be safe, kids! Or stuff like this happens to you! And yes that's my name on there somewhere!
