I have been looking at my local Pick N Pull for over a year for one of these mirrors with no luck (I have found several with the map lights on them, and have one of those in my CJ as none of the courtesy lights on it work anyway).

Today I scored as I finally found one. Best part is the guy behind the counter knows how long I have been searching so he gave it to me! Snagged the sensor too. Came out of a 99 Suburban.

I got my map light mirror out of a mid 90s Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix (can't remember).

They were in a lot of the midsized GM cars- only three wires, ground, power 12V switched and 12V for the courtesy lights (will light up the lights with the switches in the on or off position).

I just installed a Cipa 36500.
It has map lights, compass, auto dim, and temp.
I love it!

Can anyone who has pulled a mirror from a Tahoe/suburban (99) tell me excatly where the external temp sensor is located?

Temp sensor on a 99 Suburban is right below the horn, pretty much dead center behind the plastic grill in front of the radiator. Thankfully the grille on the 'Burban I took mine from was already badly cracked so I just yanked it out of the way and pulled the sensor and about 18" of the wires (just two). One small hex headed screw holds it in place on a small sheet metal clip.

I had thought about getting a head unit or a mirror with Bluetooth.. But it's sorta pointless in a YJ. I can barely have a conversation while driving down the road. I have to crank up my stereo just to slightly hear something audible. Lol! Then again, my stereo sucks.

Really? I have a horrible exhaust leak and can still hear my tunes and the person next to me. Infact, my phone can still hear me for talk text.

I like the idea but think its too much for my yj lol

Well, I may have suffered some hearing loss from countless small venue rock/metal/punk shows I attended when I was a youngin'. It didn't even occur to me when typed my earlier post. I guess I'm slightly deaf!! Lol!

Really depends on top fitment too- with my soft top on I can almost manage a conversation with my son in the back seat. Hard top not too many "WHAT?" shouted over my shoulder.

My CJ on the other hand only has front seats and even with him next to me a conversation is tough. It also has a nasty sounding V8 with glasspacks that exit right below the seats and tons and tons of wind noise because the hard doors don't fit very well...

this is great, I just pulled 2 mirrors and 2 temp probes this past weekend, it seems however these mirrors are options, and not standard equipment. I pulled one out of an AURORA, I think, and i believe it has temp and compass, have not checked yet. I pulled my second one out of a newer caddy, I'm not sure what this has on it, it is quite large and has on-star button on it. I have numerous project vehicles and most are CJs and my daily is a YJ, none of these have any dome lights. So my question, Is there a mirror that has all three? compass, temp and map lights? and what vehicles would it be found in? Not very easy to find these in yards

Wonder if an 50-GENK50A Gentex Auto Dimming HomeLink Temperature and Compass Mirror would work for this. My standard mirror shakes and it would be nice to replace it and upgrade it at the same time.

This mirror is much heavier than OEM.
I smacked my rear bumper on the Rubicon trail and the mirror tore out a chunk of my windshield.
