ARB Solenoid leaking air out the top

Air is leaking constantly out of the top of the solenoid. Is it bad? or is it just stuck open?

How do you do that. It's on a used jeep we just got. I've not messed with ARB's to much

The only time mine ever 'leaked' was when it had crap inside preventing the valve from working properly. The knurled knob at the top of the black solenoid unscrews to allow the black box coil part to come off. Do that and try to see where it's leaking for sure. I recall the post the coil goes on and it's lower plate are held on with two small screws. You could unscrew the post that is left and clear the valve in side, probably has debris in there. You could also remove the in/out parts to get access to the main internal passage to clean it.

Thanks. I think the valve is stuck open. It's coming out of the same port that it would if you unlocked them.

Check and make sure it is installed properly if this is a new install. As I had reveresed mine a while ago and had the same issue (I reverse the air hookup, to the flapper inside the solenoid would close.) I flipped it around and was good to go.

It was on the jeep when we bought it. I'll check that though.

I'm having the same problem....... I replaced with new "air solenoid" and it still looses air through the exhaust vent screw. Did you ever find out what the problem was caused from?

If they get crap inside, the valve won't close properly. Take the output fitting off the block and you will probably see something there.

Took off cleaned with brake cleaner spray (advised by arb) put back together and I still loose air when I enguage the rear locker through the solenoid. Front works fine. Could it be possible that the problem is in the diff? I've never had it apart so I'm not sure what it looks like... maybe an Oil ring or clogg/dirt?

Dual air lockers...
To see if your locker will engage is easy...
Unplug the air hose from the solenoid going to the locker that is working and replace it with the one not working.
If it starts working-replace the solenoid.
If it don't start working, you stumped me. The diff part of the air locker leaking air(o-rings copper air tube, etc), will not leak through the supply hose but will leak through the diff vent.

To be sure what is leaking, spray some windex on the suspect area. It's easy to apply and has just enough cleaner stuff in it to bubble nicely.
