Is there any junkyard mods that you could do to your YJ? I am interested in this because I am hoping to find parts for my YJ and I won't have to spend alot of money for new cheap supension parts, etc. I would rather have the good factory parts off of another vehicle.

There are so many, you have to be creative. It takes a trained eye to look over a bunch of junked sedans and see gold.

sun visors out of some buicks have side wings
late model cadillacs have lots high amp fuse blocks and relays
lots of different backup lights are perfect for rock lights
nissan pathfinder tire carrier is a good start for a build
90's oldsmobiles have an underhood light with a retractable cord
seats, horns, lights, seat belts, You name it.

YES! Now I know where to get sun visors and not pay $50 for a pair!

this one, no idea on the year though. Fabbing the hinge was easy and it has a really nice strong latch. I'll post some completed pix as soon as I can get home while it's light out.

with a little work you can upgrade the heater blower motor with one out of an earlier bronco, they are bigger, stronger and cheap if you can find em in the yard,

I did not know this jbolty. Thank you. I knew there was a reason I keep coming back to the forum! I'm going to start searching the junkyards this summer for one.

front waggy springs give a small lift and depending on the way they are put in can also give you some stretch. I have got all kinds of things from the junk yard. it's all about just walking around and being creative

I have mine thrown out and just sitting on the Jeep right now, the stock ones. The driver side one's a bit broken, but I'm so tall with the top on, it saves my eyes. With the top off, sungalasses.

My drivers side ended up getting stuck so I couldn't fold it down. It eventually just bent and it wouldn't fold. So I took the pass. side and cut the wing off the one side just to have something. As for sunglasses, I left my Costa's on my car at a gas station several weeks ago and drove off.
I lose.

I am headed down to the junkyard right now to pick up the Pathfinder gate to re-mod, actually, for a friend. The PF they have there is a 1996. I believe that style ran from 1988 to 1998, but don't quote me (had a Nissan SE-V6 pickup truck - 1994 - and I remember those being the body styles I could pull parts from....)

Speaking of Junk Yards, if you are in Colorado Springs, be careful at U Pull and Pay. I went in yesterday to get a few parts, only to be approached by a guy telling me "The cars in this section are double-price on parts because we haven't been making a good profit margin on them." The 4 cars in that special "double price" section?:

1991 Jeep Wrangler YJ
1992 Jeep Wrangler YJ
1995 Jeep Wrangler Saraha
1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ.

Hmmmmm....I wonder if he wasn't telling me the whole truth and nothing but the truth.......

I posted a wanted ad for that carrier last night on craigs list. Just got a call from a guy that has one for 30 bucks Picking it up tonight.
I found that my fold down carrier dosent work too well in real world situations
