any one swapped a early xj 4.0 into a 2.5 yj

i picked up an 88 xj for a hundred bucks it hasnt ran for a year but the guy i bought it from says it ran fine when he parked it. he parked it because the ac went out in it. so im trying to figure out what to do with it. im thinking about removing the engine and putting it in my yj. i know i need a new tranny but what else may have to be done to make the engine work. the wiring isnt an issue im and electrician and have factory service manuals for both vehicles. im picking it up tomorrow so i havent even tried to start it yet.

not so stock 89 yj on 35s

This is not a bolt in swap. You will need to get engine mount brackets for a 4.0 YJ. Cut the current brackets off, and relocate and weld in the new brackets for the 4.0. Also, if this is a renix engine I would pass on it, or scrap it to make a couple bucks. Not sure what year the xj got the 4.0HO...

If it has tracks, tires or tits, its gonna cause a problem.
