Any clue # ?

Hi , And thanks in advance. Recently bought this 89 wrangler. 6 automatic. I'm trying to see if motor is orig. Number on side of block by dist. is 61709. Thats all thats there. Anyone have a thought on what this number is ?

I think your looking for numbers further down on the block. They will be cast and not stamped...

is it carbed....????? then its a 4.2 prolly original, most would not swap another 4.2 if it went.....

FI then its a 4.0 not original didnt come about till 91 I beleive

Started with some rust repairs ended in a SOA...

Yep, 91 in the YJs.

But they could have swapped in FI into an older 4.2 as well, not indicative of engine really.
