Another frame swap, then build thread

When I bought my rig, I was a newbie and didn't bring my BFH to check the frame...I've been piecing / welding back over the past few years. The ART rear sections and my own mid frame repair , reat cross member /bumper and a few other spots...

After wheeling last weekend I found a crack in front of the driver rear spring mount. It ran from the 3/4 of the frame in front of the fuel filter... I had patched this area once already.

Time now for a frame swap... Picking up a 95 frame tomorrow..

here are some of the original repairs...

reviewed Jeepers Don's frame thread and Leftlanetruckins tub removal threads.

While doing the frame swap I plan on the following

New steering box, Durango
New steering shaft
New front DS
Brown Dog Engine mounts
I already have the MORE shock extensions for front and rear, not installed
Dual Battery, HD alternator (already have theses)
Electric fan install (already have theses)
Belly up skid
Parts Mike Shaft brake.

Frame will get POR exterior and Eastwood internal

Gonna watch you do your frame swap and hopefully get around to mine this summer. I've got a new frame and body sitting in the garage. Frame only needs new engine pylons, they were removed because the previous owner had a Diesel engine in it.

When you do the Durango upgrade, get a pitman arm for a 99 Grand Cherokee. It is longer than a stock YJ pitman and gave me my turning radius back. I got mine from Quadratec for $20.

Add some drain holes to the back of the new frame so it wont happen again.

Just got back with the new frame! This thing is clean!!! $500

Only negative I didn't find out till I got there, (2 hrs away) was it WAS a 2.5 set up and was changed to a 4.0. There was a 4.0 mounted in it so engine mounts should be good. Guess I'll find out...

Anyone confirm the skid plate is for a Automatic? Doesn't look like mine. (I'm going to sell it just want to make sure its what I say it is...

I only need the frame so the 4:10s springs, boom shackles, fuel tank and fuel skid will be up for sale soon...

Mine was just a stripped frame, didn't have all the dumpster parts hanging on it that yours does....lol Good luck with the project.

I don't know if I mentioned this in my frame thread. While taking off the tub I saw that there were a few places where the clearance between the tub and frame was really small, like maybe 1/8" on the original design. In some places on my original frame/tub combo, those tolerances had gone to zero and you could not slip a sheet of paper between the two. Though I'm not a fan of body lifts at all, the buddy helping me had some sheet rubber that was 3/8" thick. We cut that up into 11 hockey puck sizes. So I now have a 3/8" body lift (1/4" would have been fine too) that ensures no tub frame contact. It also was a nice relief space for easier routing the fuel tank tubes.

Thanks, Already have a 1" daystar BL. for just that reason, and for easier frame wash down...
