Another Body Lift and Spring Lift question

Was trying to find the answer searching, but maybe I just suck with that function. I am TRYING to avoid an SYE kit as my jeep is no monster truck, but maybe an off roading event oncein a while/daily driver (SRT 4 is the toy, sorry guys). I am going for the fun factor of having a lifted jeep that I have always wanted: Plans

RC 4" Lift Kit
-2 or 3" body lift
-33" tires (31's came on the jeep when I bought it)

My question is can you do ANY type of body lift after doing the max 4" lift with t-case drop and not have to put in an SYE? Biggest concern is my jeep when i bought it was not in the best shape and the stock body mounts look very very rough and am going to fix these first before my lift kit, but want to make sure I dont screw myself out of the nice suspension lift look . Thanks guys!

Body lifts have no effect on driveline angle or SYE necessity, so you can do it whichever way suits your application best.

MANY folks with 4" lifts will need a SYE, and it's not all that hard or expensive to do. However, should you tempt fate & go without one and have a catastrophic driveline failure it WILL get very expensive. They're cheap insurance, IMO.

Body lifts aren't that bad, or hard to do, even with rusty body bolts. Here's my thread on avoiding trouble when installing a body lift.

Maybe there is another way around getting a lift out of the jeep then the 4"? From what I read they are right around a grand and I am not ALL that serious about off roading, just rather enjoy the jeep for the jeep and would like to clear some 33" tires . Just figured the 4" would be the way to go as it was the same price for the 2.5" lift it looked like

I'm no expert at any of this, but I've heard from several others that anything more than a 1" lift is too stressful on the mounts. If you're putting a 4" RC lift on, you should be able clear the 33's without a body lift. Again, not an expert, just passing on the little knowledge I have.

Well, as much as I hate 3" body lifts (or anything over 1") I think for your application (light offroading/trails, mostly going for looks) a 3" body lift & some 5/8" to 1" shackles will help you clear some bigger meats. This would be quite inexpensive and wouldn't strain the driveline. I would recommend using a new set of poly mounts (stock height) and a 3" lift kit.

OMG! I can't believe I just typed that.....

One thing I didn't see mentioned was a TC drop to help the drive line angle.

I'm running a 4" RC lift with 3/4" shackles and a 1" body lift (as mentioned, doesn't affect drive line angle) with a 1" TC drop. No vibes caused by the lift. Vibes caused by worn bushings, blown TRE's and maladjusted tires but nothing on the driveline to date.

Those days are limited though, I'm going SYE/CV when I do the axle swap.
