Andrew's 93 build log
Hey folks, I'm fairly new to Jeeps, and I wanted to share my adventure with you guys.
I might need some advice from time to time, and I'm sure there'll be plenty to be had here! I picked up this 93 a couple months ago, and I'm planning to pick it up some more, put different axle(s) and tires under it, maybe build some fenders/flares, and have fun! Here it is the day I bought it: ![]()

I've done a couple small things already, putting a rear bumper on, 33 inch tires, a winch...
![]() I took off the track bars and the sway bar, and the stock fender flares, and then I decided I needed to find out how much of a difference it made: ![]() ![]() I have some more small things planned and in the line: front bumper, posi-lock, different throttle cam... whatever else comes along. Yesterday I took it to Uwharrie National Forest. First proper trailing trip!
five minutes into the trail, and I can't make it up and over a hump - front wheels weren't engaged. The axle was spinning, but the passenger side axle shaft weren't locked. did I mention posi-lock? Turns out the vacuum lines were all split in four places. Also, the vacuum motor wasn't switching between the 2x and the 4x lines, just sucking through one line, all the time. So I cut up some rear windsheild washer line to use as joints, cut some lengths of suitable hard line, and rerouted it to the "engage" side of the diaphram.... click! Oh, the difference it makes! But it still wouldn't stop my friend from getting it stuck: ![]() ![]() In the second picture, you can see a beer can: It was standing there when we got there, and my Jeep was the third of our vehicles, and Scott got me STUCK over it, and it was still standing there after we pulled him off and we left! ![]() Unfortunately, we didn't get a lot of pictures. Next time we're out there, we need to make a point to stop at big obstacles, and kick out the ride-alongs, so they can take pictures. Next time shouldn't be too far off... |

Thanks!
Buying this thing is one of the best decisions I've ever made! I know everyone likes pictures, so I'll try to keep 'em coming. After the Uwharrie trip, here's Cagan, making sure no more trees wander into my fender... ![]() A shot of the rear bumper, and more dirt: ![]() The rear fenders rub a little bit, but they'll get cut before long anyway. ![]() |

It was prett satisfying to walk right up that, after Keith had a hard time with it in his TJ.
It took him about twenty minutes, and a lot of moving rocks around to finally get up it |

Well, I washed the Jeep yesterday, but didn't take any pictures.
I don't know why I washed it anyway, I was planning on taking it out today: ![]() I had to pull my buddy's Cherokee out a few times, just so he could get stuck again... ![]() but when he got stuck, he sure could sling some mud! ![]() ![]() Okay, that's enough pictures of his poo bucket. My other car should be running soon, so I'll be able to take the Jeep off the road to get things going. Last edited by ncAndrew; 12-17-2009 at 01:13 PM.. |

Well, I put on a 1" body lift a couple weeks ago, and it all went really badly!
I even treated the stock hardware with PB for more than two weeks... Three bolts broke, and three nuts spun. Not to worry though, I like cutting stuff up! Here are the mounts under the front of the seats: ![]() I misjudged the driver side, and started cutting a few inches off to one side ![]() Here are the mounts right behind the seats. The driver side was pretty easy, slicing the top off of the dome in the sheet metal. ![]() The passenger side was a little more difficult, because that's one of the bolts that broke. Rather than drill it out, I cut all around the bracket under the floor. Here's a rather unfinished result: ![]() The rest of them were pretty uneventful, but that's partly because the old broken bolts are still in the two rear-most positions, doing nothing more than keeping the poly mount from slipping out... I know, that's bad. but there you go. More to come! Last edited by ncAndrew; 12-17-2009 at 01:42 PM.. Reason: speeling |

I half-way re-wired my headlights yesterday.
I say half-way, because I replaced the rotting connectors, but I didn't relay the lines. Looks so much better. I don't have a before/after set of the beam light, but here's the better of the two original connectors, next to a brand new piece: ![]() I also changed my brake master cylinder, in an effort to get a firm pedal, but no go. Later today, I hope to get around to replacing the rear wheel cylinders. pictures are fun. ![]() |
