all gauges stopped working?

new guy here, yesterday i installed led flush mount taillights in my 94 yj, everything works fine except the flashers, need the new relay, anyways, i noticed today on my way to work NONE of my gauges work tach/speed/oil/fuel/amps ect.. and also none of my warning lights come on when you cycle the key also, not even my upshift light, jeep still runs fine and everything else works as it should, checked all my fuses and everything was good, any insight would be great! its driving me nuts! i tried searching, most said check fuse #9 which is good in my case! thanks in advance!

did you check the fuses under the dash plus the ones under the hood?

A 89 yj with a 4.0 aw4 sye out of an 92xj. Now the hard part is done time to get it up in the air just a bit. Working on 8.8 with 3.73 and lsd for the rear. and new D30 hp with 3.73 .
For those who have not figured this out I'm old school but can handle the new too.

Very likely it is just a dirty connection on the printed circuit board. There is a very good write up on this forum on how remedy this condition....it worked for me

I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger and bigger....then it hit me!

If everything was working before you started installing the tail lights I would just about bet my next check that your problem is in splice Z1. Looks like its located by driver side light. Take a look in there, specifically at the black wires. Just go back to anywhere you were working and look for loose or disconnected ground.

Langstonjones, where did you get those diagrams? Thanks! You might have just saved my bacon on the gas gauge!

ok pulled the cluster out, and both contacts were corroded, cleaned them with an eraser, then put a little dielectric grease on them both, cycle the key and everything works, NOW put it all back together back it out of the garage and boom all dead again check the 15 ign/LPS fuse and sure enough its blown, any idea why it would keep popping?

Also when you put them back in be careful not to pinch the film circuit during install.

Going be tough to track down a short on the forum. Need to grab up some diagrams and just start going through them.

Good Job Sounds like you've got a hot hooked to a ground when you installed tail lights. You gotten this far man, you can fix it. It will most likely take you longer to figure out the switch circuit than it will the problem. Just saying this because I'm still sorting out "fixes" from a previous owner on a CJ5.
