air inlet tube 90 yj 2.5l HELP!

I'm in a bit of a pickle here... and I know that my comrades here on the JF will have an answer for me!!!

My intake tube is worthless, full of cracks and tears.
problem is that the part is not made nor sold ANYWHERE.
tried the autozone univ. tube jobs, but i get a bad suction whistle

any ideas what i could do?

bump....
i don't understand why we need a pic.....
i'm still having problems finding my intake tube...
i've called the dealerships and parts companies, and they don't make or sell it anymore...
the intake tubes from the 91-95 yjs don't fit... they're a different shape and won't seat properly.. as are the universal jobs from autozone.
anyone have any custom intake jobs for a 90 yj that aren't snorkels?
i seriously need help finding a solution to my problem.... HELP!!!!

Did you try ebay or craigslist? You might be able to find one either from someone who's parting out a jeep or you can try your luck at a junkyard...the ones near me don't usually have jeeps but I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods. I've done pretty well watching craigslist though and waiting for a part out. Good luck!

If you dont care about how it looks, the easiest solution is good ol' duct tape, ran mine for years like that.

There is a Comanche in the salvage yard with a 2.5L in it,

I'm guessing it should be the same as your YJ.

Post a pic of yours. I'm guessing it will by the looks of it.

i've hit the junk yards.... but as i said... the 91-95 2.5l tubes don't fit (tbi vs. mpi), meaning im limited on what jeeps i can pull the part off of. (87-90?) what year is the commanche?

i've got duct tape on it right now.... the tube is that thin wire coil type with the thin plastic sheet covering it
if i could keep some structure to it, i'd be ok with it.. but it just collapses on itself.

It's an early one with TBI.

Post a picture of yours and I'll make sure it's the same.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I have access to tons of Jeep parts (that's what I do for a living). There are 5-6 salvage yards within a 100 mile radius of my shop and I'm in at least one of them every day pulling parts.

If you can't be bothered with posting a picture, I won't waste my time helping you.

Don't get me wrong..... i would love to post a picture for you... however, when i'm near the jeep lately, it's been dark.... iphone 3gs has no flash, and i don't think it will help anyway, as its covered in duct tape. so there are no visible markings or even an identifiable design.
i appreciate your effort.... no hard feelings?

however, i will try to get the wife to take a pic of the tbi opening so you can see... it's oval is the problem, and the airbox opening is round... and they're slightly diff sizes. hopefully that helps...
