After Market Tie Rod For YJ

I have a 95 jeep YJ with a 3.5" superlift. I just installed Terraflex sway bar quick disconnects and noticed that both tie rod joints are shot. I want to replace the stock one with a good after market rod. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I just repaired the worn parts whenever I had to address the tie rod.

Any product made by Moog is a good choice.

Has anyone seen the Canyon Climber Designs system? Go to http://www.phatjeeps.com/ and then select "axle conversions & steering" and then scroll down to the Canyon Climber Designs section. They don't give too much information about the system, but it looks pretty good. I've tried search engines but haven't been able to find this system anywhere else. Feedback from someone that has this system would be great.

That was on a TJ, but it does look nice. I don't like the curved steering link (bent = weaker), but some of the photos showed a straight one.

Actually the top right pic is on a Grand and the bottom left is on a XJ. The bent drag link eliminates the need for a drop pitman and minimized bump steer. I would expect it to be fabricated with heavy wall tubing and it's probably stronger than stock.

Do the math, in this case, do a stress analysis. You push at point A and it moves at point B, whether it's straight or bent between the two does not matter to the two points. The visual lets you think you have improved something, but the two parts doing the moving have no clue if the rod is bent or straight. Bump steer? The axle right end moving up or down will be pivoting based upon the location in 3-space of the pitman arm connection, bent or straight again does not matter. The only thing the bent rod does is make it easier to bend more when a 35" tire is jambed on a rock and you keep steering.

here is a thread i started on this subject with some information on what i did for my steering.
http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthrea...eering+upgrade

i have since made some changes to my web site so the links have been broken to the pictures. the link below has the pictures on it.

http://pierviews.com/photogallery/je...E/STEERING.htm

i havebeen very happy with the steering upgrade. i used some 1 ton tie rod ends, and flipped the tie rod to the top of the knuckle. this gained apx. 3" on the tie rod to keep it out of the rocks.

if you have any questions or intrest in this, feel free to post on the thread about it

You need to do some more homework...

Grim, I made a new thread so others could render an opinion on this, rather than you and I just butting heads.
