Needless to say the top overflowed into the toolbox and effectively added another 40 gallons of red dye diesel to allow all his tools and gear to soak until he returned.

Lol that would be really really crappy. At least his tools were nicely oiled :-)

I finally did the mod. I have a stock yj with 1.25" shackle lift. Took little over an hour. Hardest part and most time consuming was getting the inner tube and cutting it. I cut off 8"!

I picked up 80-90 miles with getting 17+mpg.

This was more than 30 minutes for me..... The hose was rotted on there. Took like 45 minutes to rip it off and a trip to the parts store to get a new hose due to it being so ****ed up.

How would I find out if I have a 20 gallon tank....gas Guage does not work so I drive ~50-100 mile then fill up. Really do not like running out of gas.

My wife does not get me so I talk to my Jeep

You only have to run out once. Get a 2 1/2 gal gas can, fill it up, and run your jeep till it dies. Put the 2.5 gals in and go to a gas station. Fill it up.

Most cases with the gauge is dirty contacts either at the tank or cluster. Not really a hard fix, just can be a bit time consuming. Did the 20 gallon mod also .. sweet!! I have 64 miles a day (round trip total) 4 x a week to work. Those few extra gallons meant enough that I dont have to fill up one more time to finish out the drive to work.

Pulling that tube from the tank was a PITA though !!!

Does this mod help with the gas station pump not being able to sit in the gas tank or the pump just not being able to work because the vapor recovery keeps knocking it down? Second YJ so I guess this is a common issue?

i used to have that issue... you still running stock taillights? My issues went away when i flush mounted mine. I can get it comfortably in there now. ...just a thought. But i see your point on the vapor lock or whatchama call it. It may help.

on the flip side... i should really do this mod. Dont know why i procrastinate on it

Stop whining about the 'ride' - If your YJ ain't wrangling your soul free, then might I suggest you buy a stationwagon... at least you can fit all your bull**** in the back.
