about how much tube will i need for diy basic tube fenders???

hey pretty self explanitory i want to build a simple set of tube fenders and i was wondering how much tube i would need to grab

There are too many ways of making them, so I would advise measuring where you want the tube to be and go from there!
Just use a piece of string to mark it all out, then measure the string. Double that measurement will get you both sides.

Mine have ~135" of tube for each tube fender.

should be able to get away with one 12 foot stick per fender IF it is JUST the fender with no flare. this should be enough but not much room for mistakes....

12 foot per fender??? what type of jeep are you putting the tubes on?

That doesn't sound like too much....Joe's measurements above are 11 1/4 ft. Those inches add up when you start to fill that straight tube with several bends.....

Front or rear?

My rears took only 6 feet per side. Built and in use.

My fronts took 11 feet per side...Still in process on these.


here is a pic of the rear being layed out.
6 feet of HREW black pipe.

yes i used one 12 foot stick per fender on my yj. thay are actually not totally finished yet but all the tube is together (no sheet metal yet). i did have a little left over but not much.... 10 foot stick might work if your careful.... not sure though.

Once you measure be sure to add at least a foot or two. I don't know about tube fenders but I know that it sucks when you realize that last piece is only 1/2" too short to finish the job.

Why the second tube on the outside? Why not just one tube to come out that far and back to the frame? If you want to send me a couple pictures I'll post them for you.
