I drive it everyday so I will mount them in stock form more less, I would love to outboard but I dont think there is much room unless you run fullsize axles or spacers. I will have to make new upper shock mounts reguardless cause I cut the stock ones off.

As far as mounting the shocks I was goin to go with behind rear axle and should I angle them towards the rear of the jeep some?

Anyone try this on a more less stock YJ? I know that TJ and YJ are pretty much the same just didnt know if the U-bolt plate would interfer? I am goin to try to do some measuring tonight and see what I can come up with, I already have the Ford towers.

I really considered it.
I was a little worried that with the added leverage with a leaf spring they may not hold up.
Not to mention my frame is not in the best of shape.

That would be outboarding as I said earlier. That would be your best bet and you should have no problems at all. I didnt cut into my frame but have 1.5" spacers. If I would have frenched the towers into the frame like in Stu's write up then I wouldnt have had to run the spacers, but wanted a little wider stance anyway.

If you can cut and weld correctly then do that. If you dont trust your welding skills, pay someone to do it or ask a buddy. Thats not a fab job you can half ***.

well I flexed it out and it isnt goin to fit unless I put wheel spacers on, I have them tacked on behind the axle and ran to the back of the 2"x4" crossmember right now, I flexed it out and everything seems good, there are however close to my center section of the axle, and I know the closer to the wheel the better but how I have everything ran this may be one of my few options, I sat under it for a little more than an hour and couldnt find to many ways in doing it.

I used YJ style springs just moved the spring hanger back, I gained a little over 7" of wheelbase, main purpose is to stabilize it better on hills or steep angles. I plan on moving the front axle forward 1-2" in the future but as of now my next thing is some tube fenders for the front.
