Jlabean,
It is my understanding that the computer controls the timing, air/fuel mix, etc. I don't think you can change it. Just so I understand you correctly, you are adding NOS to the 2.5? Why not put a SB Chevy in it and be done with it? Or does NOS mean something else? Scott |

LOL, sounds like hes talking about N2O alright. Just out of curiosity, how much are planning on shooting? Cant imagine it would be much. Might be able to get by with a colder heat range on the plugs instead.

How big of a shot are you putting on it? I have thought about doing it but havent brought myself to install a kit. I would be very intersted in how it works out...I do not know anyway around the computer timing for the ignition...sorry

Nitrous Oxide Systems (NOS)
ok. why would i put NOS on as oppose to a sb? used NOS kit $100..... replacing the engine, trans, transcase, both drive shafts, d30 and d35, have new motor mounts welded in, $1,000's. i run a 65 hp wet shot. just as an FYI for the ppl scared of NOS i have ran 7 20lb bottles through my 2.5l with 140,000 miles on it and it still runs like a top. its been on my jeep almost 2 years. with stock tires it blow the tires off in 2 gears and some of 3rd. with the 32" tires it will slip the clutch in 4 gears. not so good. but it is the OEM clutch so i guess thats not so bad.now with the other engine mods i have done. it will hang with the 4.0L main roads and in the trail. with out the bottle. with all the work i have in to my motor i still only spent about $400. |

i just add a high lift cam, ported intake, and header. so i know i can get more out of the little 4 popper if i pull my timing up. the computer kept it from spark knocking too bad before when i would spray it. but now not so much. its too busy trying to keep up with all the extra air flow.
