Congradulations Boxman! Just finished reading all 56 pages and I'm really impressed. Your perseverance really paid off. Kudos to your wife too! Not many women would put up with the length of time of your project. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

U Da Man. I just read it as well and now consider myself fortunate that I was able to get rid of the surface rust on my floor with a wire brush on my grinder.

I used the silver inside because it has metal pieces in it that is good for pitted metal. hope that helps.... If i had my time back, i think i would use silver on the frame , then top cote it with "chassis cote" or "black cote". ![]()

Boxman, I found a company that makes replacement auto paint. After browsing through for Jeep, it seems the blue made for the YJ was called Canyon Blue.
Brilliant blue was the color for the 1977 CJ. It's possible it was also used and is the color of your Jeep. I went to two different paint stores and tried hard to find that exact color (I want to paint mine the same color). There were some tough choices, but it was very difficult to find the EXACT same color. Anyhow, here's the link to the first place I mentioned above, in case you want to match your paint as close to factory original as possible: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ ![]() |

Well, i decided not to use the durabak...right now....cause it's the wrong colour...
If anyone knows about that orange charger the this guy painted with a roller....well I am attempting that...after one coat..it looks like this.... Basically, i have to wetsand then recoat a couple of times, then use a polishing compound and then a coat of wax...lets hope it turns out well... I am not going for a new corvette paint job anyhow....it is just a HEEP afterall... ![]()

Did you block the entire jeep? I see several dings and dents. It might be just the way the pictures came out. If not take your time and make it look nice. Its all in the prep work. The more time you spend getting the body to look straight the paint will look that much better. Also that's only the first coat? You seem to be getting a lot of coverage. Try thinning the paint some more. The first coat shouldn't even appear of the color your trying to roll on. If you lay it on thin it will harden much faster and wont scratch off with your finger nail in a month.
