You were right...i do have some rot around the shackles on one side...nasty.

wow...excellent post...thx for the info...When I saw the rot, I was a bit concerned, but mine is nowhere near that bad so I should be able to weld something over it.

I do need some encouragement guys...

I NEED to get a welder....and start practicing....

Is there anything on the market that can fill these holes? epoxy, jb weld anyone???

the top and bottom of the frame is good....just the holes in the side...givin me headache...

I forgot to mention....I pressure washed a lot of crap out of the frame today....then , I sprayed WD40 inside the frame...hope this helps a little...

Exhaust looks in good shape!

Galvanizing is just a dip or coating isn't it? More rust resistent than proof.

Unless those areas are trully the exception rather than the rule, for as many hours as you are gonna put into this project, I'd be working a 2nd job, selling stuff, whatever to start with a good frame - used or new. I looked briefly but couldn't find it, but there was a post on jeepsunlimited where a guy basically skinned the whole side of the frame with new metal. Still though, seems it was less than 2k for a brand new frame from quadratec and there's gotta be better deals out there than that.

I second buying a new frame. Welding that thing up is going to be a major league challenge, and when you're done it's still going to be slowly decaying.

Buy a new frame. The body you can fix. The frame is history.
