Next time def. template and cut out the frame to match the repair section you made. If you run accross a welder ask him about the streangth of what you did (overlay) vs. Sentinal's way (butt joint) If you want to get better welds, Try a full hood and using two hands. I hate mig welding (yours looks flux core) with only one hand...the second to brace against the project is very helpful to me. Allows me to focus on the puddle and have more control of the speed and accuracy. IMHO

I talked to many licenced Millwrights at my work about this and they said what I did is called gusseting and it is fine the way I did it. THX for the info though...
As for next time??? I'll be getting a brand new frame for a CJ Scrambler that I am dreaming of!!! After what I've done so far, I don't plan on battling this kind of rust again ![]()

ha ha aha . ahh you missed a few spots with the por 15. just giving you a hard time. It is looking really good BTW and i think it is a great shape for a summer jeep or daily fun driver. the worst is gonna be doing the body work and then watching the salt try to get it back. What i ment by the above was in referance to the frame being stong enough if you did lift ? It looks like it would be fine to me. IT will be a sweet DD though good luck and keep them pics coming

I think it means that it would only be hauled form off-road point to off-road point on a trailer with no road driving. I may be wrong because I still aint figured out what BTW or IMO means
