I wish you all the best, that was just my suggestion. I've built 4 Jeeps from the frame up over the years, so your not talking to some part time wheeler who gets his kicks out of rebuilding four bangers to cruise around the mall parking lot on weekends.

Good luck on your venture.

Wow you are a very lucky man. I started a project like yours but it was a '67 CJ-5.
Well then I got married then had the first child and quickly ran out of that green stuff and had to part it out. Now eight years later and two more kids I have finally got me another JEEP to start wrenching on. So best of luck to you and keep up the good work.

THX, u certainly have more experience than me, this is a learning experience for me, you know...live and learn...I've never done anything close to this before...the most is a brake job and shock replacement, that's about it.

I am gonna keep at this one cause I've come so far and the end is almost in site,
If it some how fails, I'll strip it down and start over, beats blowing all my cash on dope or booze and keeps me out of trouble...for now
Later...

It is nowhere near done yet...alot more beads to lay and a lot of grinding to make it pretty....

After all that...2 coats of POR-15 and maybe some herculiner over the whole frame....

Spray some oil inside and I can finally move on to the springs and shocks.

Thx for looking...

Later...
Here's a before and after comparison...

Have faith in your welds. More holes in the frame will only weaken it and give more entry points for water. Are you going fish plate the new metal to the old metal?

I was thinking the same thing,
i guess i should fishplate the ends but the new metal is not flush with the old metal, if that makes sense.

Why is it not even? Did you not use the same gauge? I'm sure I linked you to Sentinal02's writup on his frame repair. You need to do something like that.

The new metal is on top of the old metal, he did not cut away the old.

At least if you're not going to cut out the old rusty metal, you should weld your shackle bushing to your new metal.

EXactly bud....I'm welding the new metal around the bushing...yes...

Metal is not even because the new metal is on top the old hence, not even..

the old did not need to be cut away, lots of good metal there, I am just basically covering the holes and strengthening things. all old metal is covered both sides with POR-15

thx for looking...

I hope that this approach works. If it were me, I would have cut the old stuff out. With that said, I would definitely run the new metal to where the frame is solid and tack it really good.
