94 wrangler engine swap

Sorry if someone already asked this....new to the jeep life! I bought a 94 wrangler sport with a bad 4 banger and 5 speed. I want to swap for a inline 6 HO or something that I can just swap without tons of mods. I have found tons of cherokees or grand Cherokee with good motors but bad something else for sale for less than the cost of a used motor.....problem is that most are automatic not 5 speed like mine. Also some are newer others as old as 88 comachee. Also I found a 2.5 out of a 98 wrangler with only 102k miles on it..another 4 banger but I just want to get this baby running and and ki vBulletin king dirt in my farm!!

What do you suggest the easiest way to go about the swap would be? Thanks for the help.

Your current trans won't work. Have to use a trans from the 4.0. The aw4 auto behind the Cherokee motor is a great trans, just swapped one in mine a few weeks ago.

1994 Wrangler...4.0 AW4 swapped, sye'd, 5.5" lift and 33's

Bellhousing from ax5 will not physically bolt to a 6 cyl and if it would, it is not nearly stout enough to handle the additional power....

Not the sharpest bulb in the box....

My Jeep is possessed with the goal of making me lose my religion....

Get the 98. If you want it up and working use the 98 block and head and just swap everything over. Quick and easy. To do any of the other swaps you are loooking at rewire for a couple sensors and the 2 injectors. A computer swap. The engine, trans, and tcase, drive shafts, and motor mount relocating.

What I said above applies. If you find a 2.5l from any 87-99 Jeep it will work by swappping the manifold and stuff off the one you have.
