94 2.5 still having problems HELP
Thought we were making progress, not much worse. I have replaced:
o2 sensor temp sensor fuel filter It was getting to 3500 RPM still not accelerating much. When at 2500 floor the throttle and almost nothing happens, Now coming home last night fom work it will not go past 3000rpm starts to die. if I down shift has to above 3000 it sounds like it stalling, have to get out of the gas to get below 3000. Third gear2500 small grade floor it, nothing. Some one said change the TPS and replace vac lines, I guess thats next I sure take any ideas. I not a mechcanic, not a bad parts changer. I almost up to taking to a stealer to get checked out, will have to wait till i can fund the dealer. Any more help would be appreciated. It's parked for now. Thanks Luck Dragon Kelly ![]()

I may not be able to help at all and only confuse you, but I had a problem with my 2.5 that I couldn't figure out. The power wire to the coil had gotten to where it would ground out through the insulation causing the jeep to not run. I think heat from the engine had broked down the insulative properties of the wire. Make sure that your rig is getting the propper amount of spark.
My jeep also acts the way you described when it is out of gas. It never hurts to check. |

Im having the same problems... when ever I give it some gas, it acts like its out of gas and wants to stall... Do you get a check engine light?

Could also be the crank position sensor. Mine came loose once and it wouldn't rev high, would stumble.
Are you getting a check engine light and any codes?

Id check the cat and spark plugs. This is a maybe, but it could be bad ignition coil and distributor cap (If any of this is wrong, please correct me).My cat just went last week. If it is the cat, go for an Direct fit, those universals restrict the crap out of your engine! Any bad rattles in the area around the converter or weird smell of sulfur?

Try pulling codes anyway. It may not have given you a light, but there still might be codes in there. Also, how is it on start up? Does it idle high (above 1,200)? Ours ran like manure when the idle was low (around 7-800), but after a tune up it idles at 1,000-1,500 on start up which I think is high, but it runs solid. The idle will come down after a minute or tow, but comes down slowly. Also, what is the condition of the fluids?
Our tune up included O2 sensor, vac lines, plugs, cap, air filter, better oil. |

hows volt gage? my alternater died and was not leting my jepp get above 3,000. i think it is much simpeler then you think. sounds like an ignition problem or low voltage. idk. get the alternater checked. check the vacume lines behind the valve cover. also where they go into the manafold.

Many things can cause this but if it just keeps getting worst every time you use it or the longer you drive it, then I would guess that you have a clogged cat converter.

Put criminals in nursing homes. They will have cold meals, lights off at 7pm, one bath a week, live in a smaller room AND will be forced to pay $4,000- $8,000 a month! It's pretty damn sad that we treat prisoners better than the elderly. |
