93 lockup trans in an '87?

Ive got an '87 that I have been waiting on my neighbor to rebuild the trans for 2 months... Ive found a decent deal deal on a trans out of a '93. My trans was a non-lockup and I believe the '93 is a lockup. Can I run the lockup trans with a non-lockup converter or how hard would it be to make the lockup trans work?
