92 2.5 no start issue

Yes, I did try to search the forum and can't find what I am looking for so here's my problem....

Son was out last night riding around and when he went to start back up, fuel pump did not prime. We got it home this morning and I was able to jump the fuel pump in pdc and it does come on so I checked wiring in underside of PDC and see nothing wrong (relay has connections and tested good in horn slot).

Maybe associated with problem are (plural) the following: speedometer and odometer stopped working recently (it's on my list of minor things that need fixing), radio stays on after key is turned off (more electrical gremlins), starter not starting new problem this week and was planning on attacking that one today prior to new more pressing problem (starter doesn't matter if fuel pump don't work).

Where to start with fuel pump problem? Not an electrical guy so yes, I do kind of need my hand held on this....

turn the key to on... see if the Check engine light comes on and goes off after a few seconds. If it doesnt come on right away... wait for it to come on and then go off (this may take up to 5 or so minutes) When it does try and start the jeep...If it does come on and go off please report back

Have two computers and the light has never come on with this one (been running it for a year now) and always comes on with other one but will not give up any codes thrown. I guess I am also asking if the other electrical problems are connected to this one??

Additional info.... When I jumped the fuel pump relay, the voltmeter in dash jumped around from nothing to bouncing around....

Since this seems to be a " How or if I figured it out" thread, I pulled bulkhead connector and found what I believe to be the right connection (D5, ignition to ECU) and found nothing there but a clean connection and dielectric grease, I put it back. Didn't look into anything else because the boy doesn't seem to want to clean it up, mud everywhere, inside and out, I'm not wallering around in it with dirt falling into my face ever time I get under it....

Still open to suggestions on what to check when he gets around to cleaning it so I can get around to working on it....

Since the radio was staying on with the ignition switch in the off position I would take a look at the ignition switch. Its down on the steering column and is actuated by a metal rod.

I did find some useful information in a thread when looking for a pinout for the ecu plug.... Checked two places and found power at #3 and nothing at #9 which should be ignition to ecu (someone correct me if I am wrong here) also sending me to the ignition switch....

Yep, I have a few. I don't have the time to play on the forum as much right now but with a PM I will throw in my .02

If you don't have a light on the ecu then that is where you need to start. Chances are its just a power issue to the PCM. Check power to pins 3 and 9 on the ecu connector with the ignition on.

This ECU has never lit up the cel but has always worked for everything else.... I checked pins 3 and 9 per another thread and got full power to 3 and nothing at 9, changed ignition switch and got no change so I am now going over wiring diagrams to backtrack circuit hoping to figure it out....

Could use some "simplified" tests if possible

BTW, thanks

Your fuse is blown. Its the Ign. Lps fuse or the dome lamp fuse. It depends on the year. It is definitely one or the other.

Guarantee it. Ign lps or the weird one is when it was wired through the dome light fuse, but its one of the 2 for sure.
