I've heard pretty good things about them. They're supposed to be reliable, but slow. I was planning on getting one for $300. Where did you find it for $200?

I haven't heard anything significant but if it works only once you've saved a tow bill.

The slow part - I was thinking that as a new winch user, especially one who doesn't have other experienced winch users to guide me, that the slow part would be just fine.

Also, since they seem to have about the same horsepower electric motors as other winches, it would seem that the slowness is just a lower gearing - which I'm totally fine with since that usually means a given motor can pull even more weight, or isn't worked as hard pulling the weight it does have to pull.

I don't have one yet, but I may go with the harbor freight 9000 winch. The 12000 is just too much extra weight for no real reason on a small Jeep IMHO.

I have the Harbor Freight 12,000# winch I got on sale for $299 and love it. I also used their mounting plate ans it was a direct bolt up on my '87, all the holes lined up on both the winch and the frame. My only modification was mounting the control box under the hood to keep it out of the weather.
Photos are brfore I relocated the controls.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it - Don't worry, something will break soon enough for you to fix.

You need to look online for a 25% off coupon. They are printable and just show it to them on your smartphone and they will honor it.

How drop in the front end did you get? I am conceding the same winch then putting the synthetic rope on it.

Thanks,

Pat

I have the 9,000 LB Quadratec winch sitting waiting to go on my LJ. For $300, I couldn't beat it on paper for that price.

We'll see how it holds up to the light to moderate wheeling I do and our horrible So Cal weather.

I'm also getting rid of the roller fairlead and the hook. I'll be using a Delrin fairlead from Chassis Unlimited (when it ever gets here)

and a Factor 55 Prolink and some 3/4" Pin, 5/8 Shackles

Hope you're not paying the price in that link!!

I use this one.... The one you posted doesn't have to be re-threaded though (but that's actually WAY easier than I thought it would be).
