`90 YJ Paint code plate/sticker

Hey guys, I have turned my 1990 YJ inside out looking for the exterior paint code plate/decal. I have been to (2) two paint websites looking to match my paint. I have looked everywhere they say it "COULD" be and NO LUCK!!! I have looked under hood, under dash, in glove box, under carpet and on the hard door(s).
I found a decal on the door with the VIN & tire/wheel info but nothing at all that looks even close to being a paint code. Can ANYONE help??

Try going HERE, use the second search box and just put in the generic color name, like "blue", and of course select "Jeep". Then find the '90.

I've been to that website, that's not my problem... They/I need the 2-3 digit paint code off of the Jeeps decal/plate to order the correct paint. It's a Sahara & I see 2 possibilities it could be.... Either Khaki Metallic or Sand Metallic. Some call it "Sahara Green" but at both paint websites I've been to they do not list a Sahara Green or ANY green that was even close. I do understand why people call it "Green" because in the right light it does have a "Green" tint, however it looks different in different lighting.. Anywhere from greenish/pewter <sp> or Khaki /green.
I was hoping someone with a `90 Sahara had any idea where the decal was located? It's possible mine has come off!! Thanks

On my 90 the paint code was on the bottom of the drives hard door. I literally had to turn the door over to see it.

Here are the paint codes I have for 1990 Wranglers. If you don't have a sticker like Rusty, then look at the imprinted panel riveted to the firewall in the engine bay, It's behind the washer fluid bottle, next to the brake booster. Hope this helps.

There should be an ID plate on the firewall on the drivers side near the brake booster.
Here is what the paint codes are...

RE: Rustywrangler... Yeah, I have a decal on the drivers door as well..... But other than Tire, wheel, inflation, etc. info to the left of the decal, it DID have the V.I.N. # it also had (Type):MPV & also (MDH):030917 and that was it.... I didn't see ANY other #'s or codes. On your decal on the door did it have this similar info PLUS your paint code? Because like I said above, that's all my decal on the door said... But Thanks for the reply!

indyguy9791....

As promissed in my tred...
Use following website to get the color that matches your YJ....

http://www.paintscratch.com/

Go through their wizard, put in year, make and model... you will be presented with table of colors and color codes... match your color by color code on right....

On my 95 YJ I have found color code on the hard doors... the info was in the bottom right corner... read their instructions on variations of codes...

"Jeep vehicle color codes can be preceded by an letter such as P or Q. For example if you are looking for color code W7/GW7, it may appear on your vehicle as PW7/GW7 or QW7/GW7 or RW7/GW7, etc.
Some of the colors below may be followed by the word mattt, i.e. Color Description (matt) . These are trim or bumper colors.
"

Reading this statement I found my to say PCH... which matches my Brilliant Blue Pearl Metallic Clearcoat...
I hope that helps you out and makes you less frustrated...
Good luck.

Hey...
One more thing... if you are still having problems looking for code... take some clear pictures of the color ID plates on you YJ and post them for people to look at...
Hope that this helps.

Just to set the record straight, I tried helping you by typing what the instructions said, PLUS sending you links to websites that you could get the info you wanted.
SO for you to say that I'm frustrated, yeah maybe a lil but I also said I was joking.

But now I guess I am "FRUSTRATED" because it seems you don't read any OR all the replies to my thread!
I said I had been to (2) two paint websites one being the link you & the first person both sent me that had NOTHING to do with my question! Then you say "if i'm still having problems matching my paint, to take pictures of my ID plate & maybe someone could help me ID it"
Well Mr. Obvious as I stated in my ORIGINAL thread, I CAN NOT find the plate or decal on the Jeep at all, I know how to match the code to the paint, I just need to find the plate that tells me the code!

So Thanks for your reply anyway & I will let you do your thing & I'll do mine...
Once again, I'm sorry that you can't take a lil joke.

indyguy9791...
There are few reasons I sent you this site...
One... if you go to http://www.paintscratch.com/colALL.htm
It will show you all potential locations that you can look for Vehicles Color Identification Plate. I believe chrisler (jeep) is listing about 6 different locations, I used there diagrams to find my plate on buttom of my hard doors.
Second reason why I sent you this site was to possibly give you ability to use their color diagram (http://www.paintscratch.com/cgi-bin/makepaint2.cgi) for your 1990 YJ to see if you can distinguish color by comparing it to their diagram.
Sorry mate...
I am only trying to help...

I know you already found your paint code, but thought I would add a little info for someone else looking for theirs. When I painted my Jeep the only place I found my paint code was on a tag riveted to the bar behind the front bumper.

A lotta of the automotive paint stores have the technology to be able to scan the paint and get the code...just take a piece of the vehicle (hmmmm...ain't no small pieces on a YJ is there?) or the whole vehicle to them, and have it done...just make sure yer willing to buy your paint from them too, that's why they have that equipment!!

Over a year later, but

What was the color code you found for the 1990 Sahara (almost green)? I used to have one...RIP...and may paint my CJ that color. I obviously can't look at the ID plate to tell me the code.

Thx
