90 with Electric Fuel Pump Question

So I took my gas tank off to replace rollover Valve and the jeep was setting for about 1 month tonight I put everything back together fuel pump is working but is not pick up fuel do I have to prime it first? thanks.

FYI.

I check the pick up and return line and everything is correct.

sounds like you have the lines criss crossed... and no you don't have to prime it first

I took the fuel tank off again and remove the pick up line and return line put both in gas(small bottle) and not picking up fuel. confuse here.

the pickup tube is in the tank. Both lines that are external would pull no fuel from a bottle. Its possible that the bottom of your pickup tube sock is missing and not touching the fuel in the tank to pick it up. Not to be an a-----e but the pump runs when you turn on the key correct?

Orig my 90 had a Mechanical fuel pump I replace it with electric one (External) mounted in the frame next to the fuel tank so I figure that if I put the pick up ad return line to see whats happening.

elect pump on the frame might need primed. Mine didn't but I was lucky. Mech pumps don't need primed just lots of cranking to get fuel the 12 feet to the pump.
