The fuel tank shouldnt be a problem then. You only need to drop the tank and bypass the current fuel pump with a hose. It puts out 82PSI but that is perfect with the rail regulating the pressure. The crank sensor is good but the fly wheel has to be the correct flywheel. The pulses generated from the crank sensor are from the pattern on the flywheel.
http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/tach-signal-wheres-come-523844/index2.html The VSS from the TJ is different as well. http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f9/vss-location-jet-accu-speed-installation-607730/ other things to note: Guages and cluster are bus driven by messages on the TJ so the cluster is different and the OBDII port(J1962) is no big deal to hook up by beleive me you will want diagnostics so if your going the distance wire it in. The other thing is the security that was built in. I cant remember what exactly was there but I know there is a Vehicle theft built in. I am not trying to discorage you from doing it. I just think the easier route is to get a 91-95 YJ harness and use it. You will still need the fuel pump and other than a few mods to the top everything you have will work and be needed for the change. You can do the change yourself. Its not that bad with the right documantation either way you decide to go I am sure you can make it work. |

(You only need to drop the tank and bypass the current fuel pump with a hose. It puts out 82PSI but that is perfect with the rail regulating the pressure.) The stock 89 yj tank doesnt have a fuel pump does it? I thought it had a mechanical pump on the block. So I could use my tank I just need a fuel pump assembly, will a 96 xj tank and pump assembly work for the yj instead of the tj tank, I do have the 97 tj flywheel is that the 1 I need,And can I just go and cut the obdII port out of the harness or should I try to get the harness and all,I can get the obdII port out of the xj a guy is parting 1 out from work if I just need the port? thanks for all the help I would have never gotten this on my own.Richard

Your going to need the schematics to follow what needs to be done. The under dash through the bulkhead needs to be rewired. That includes the OBDII connector. Your going to need to pin it and a few other circuits through the bulkhead. Get the OBD harness as long as you can.
