89' YJ Steering Column Shake

Hey guys, just went to check out my possible purchase, an 89' yj with the i6 in it, only odd thing was that the whole steering column moves left right up and down if you try. Its odd, my buddy said its been like that since he got it, he said it drives fine but its a little sloppy.... what could be the issue here?

That's why I haven't done mine yet. I've talked with two people who have done it and they have convinced me to save my money and buy a Flaming River column.
