Hi im Kyle from central mass for the past 6 months i have been building a soa yj. I started with a rusted out body and frame and no i have some thing that is about half done. I am starting this thread to show any novice people out there that it isent hard to do a soa build if you really want to do it. I dont have all my pictures from the last 6 months up yet but i will try to get them for tonight.
O and P.S. i have dun all of this on a part time NAPA salary and i am 18. A Pic from this morning http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3203/3151195882_7f1c23fbb1_b.jpg

Looks good, I'd love to see some more pics of it up close. You might wanna consider getting a shorter stronger shackle, and have you considered anti-wrap bars yet? How did you overcome the steering issues? And the driveline? I'd like some details on how it was done.

you havent really completed your first soa conversion until youve beat on it and redone it properly
![]() -loose the long shackles. -do a proper steering setup. -notch the rear frame crossmember for the shackles if you havent already. -hack off the factory shock towers and make taller ones. -remount rear shocks to take advantage of soa flex potential. -dont worry about tweaked springs. -dont worry about loosing "lift" after the springs have flattened out. it will work better that way. -love the front bumper. had mine like that for years. -what is all that white stuff on the ground? fire retardant? -is there something more interesting going on inside your house? that deer seems pretty fascinated. |

the shackles stearing and shock hoops are staying untill i get enough money to do a d44 ford 9" hp next fall. the rear shackles have been moved to underneath the frame with some mounts i fabed up. Rear shocks have been re mounted allready. and i live in the house that you can just sea the peak of in the back, not the mobil home. Quote:
The lift was free besides welding/ cuting torch consumables, it was the $300 drive shaft and #250 sye that cost allot. Plus all the othere things. This thing was a rust bucket when i started. Im not shure about all napas i know we do but the store i work in isent owned by napa we just sell there parts so we can also sell from outside vendors. |

you shouldnt need a t-case drop with an SYE
kinda defeats the purpose IMO also your missing the windshield spreader bars, even in a stock cage/ws frame those are VERY helpful in a flop/roll other than the z-link, 35 out back and the beaver teeth its not bad
