replaced the wheel cylinders and rear brakes.
Replaced the vacuum lines for the front axle engagement system.
Almost finished painting the dash.
Took the hard top off. Gonna whack the doors soon.
Lookin at a set of TJ sahara seats.
Now that the 4wd is fixed, I'm gonna start pricing lift and tires. Right now I'm thinking RC 4 or 6 and 33's.
TJ seats aren't bolt in. The mounting is offset and totally different. It requires purchase or fabrication of a adapter bracket. I have done it. It just takes time..... I would probably wait unless it's a real good deal.
Got the 4 wheel drive working the other day and now officially drive-way tested it. Jacked up the rear end and it still rolled forward. Now I gotta go really test it. haha.
Also looking at a set of Cobra racing seats. Seem to be a good deal. Will see if they come through.
Ok. Cobra seats got sold already. Looking at another set that popped up on craigslist.
As far as lift goes, I would love to do a 6 inch Rough Country and some 35's but is that gonna be too much for my stock axles. I still need to be able to drive it on the high way and stuff. If you remember I have the 4.2 so I won't have 4:10 4 banger gears. I guess if I grenade the 35 that is just an excuse to go to the junkyard for some 8.8's.
So my question is
4 inch RC ----$400 or so.
6 inch RC ----$600 or so.
SOA ----------$??? or so.
What would be a good list of parts and prices for a SOA. I can't for the life of me remember where that sticky is.
If I do a CV do I have to run a SYE?
Can't I get a CV out of an XJ and cut it down?
Well, I bit the bullet and ordered my 4" RC lift today. Ryan was out of town but I heard about a guy on TJ tech who could get me the discount. His name is Jeffery by the way.
The kit should be here on tuesday or so and I ordered extra spring bolts for it. I am currently looking for a set of 33's to mount on my 15 inch rims or a set of 17 inch rims cause my dad said I could have his 33's. I have found a few 35's, what would I have to do to make those fit? I am looking to get a little extra shackle lift and could do a slight body lift to clear them. I am just worried about running 35's on my D35.
IMO i would get some tj flare and get 33s. But if you dont want to cut up your body i under stand, im going to cut it up before i paint it. Yeah unless you are very carfull and dont going wheekin much. But i would not do 35s not enough lift, and thats when you start finding out you weak spots. Hows it coming along
Pretty good. I am lookin all over craigslist for tires. The kit is here and I have been working on it. I'm out of town right now so I can't work on it. arghhh. My dad and I had to use a sawzall and grinder to get the rear bolts for the front springs off. Been getting really friendly with the torch. haha.
One of my dad's Ranger buddies is tryin to hook me up with some old humvee tires if the motorpool is throwing any out.
Been working on the lift and will get pictures up soon. Cut all the rear u-bolts off with a grinder. Had to cut the rear spring bolts for the front springs off with a grinder as well. They were frozen in the sleeves. Gonna have to do the same for the rear. The shackle ends came apart just fine. Still haven't gotten the pitman arm off. Went and bought a pitman arm puller today. That is on there right now. I have been using penetrating oil and I am probably gonna go try the torch.
ok. got the pitman arm off with puller, breaker bar, sledge and p blaster. I am about to go get the camera and upload some pics to avoid death. be back soon. haha. none of the pics are very good cause it is being done in a garage with pretty poor lighting and not enough room for a good angle shot.
The pictures are loading on photobucket right now. There will be a picture of the tools I used to get the pitman arm off, I'll try to get a baseline picture of how it looked before the lift, there is a picture with a measuring tape but that is not entirely accurate because the rear is on jackstands and the lift is not finished yet so don't go by that. I also don't have tires for it yet so it is sitting on like 28 or 29's or something like that. Some pictures of my break lines which are stock just re routed a little and I did not install the relocation brackets.
