'89 YJ Sahara build thread
Got my Sahara in the middle of 7th grade and have been doing little stuff on it since then. Finally decided to start up a build thread. I'll lay out what I've done so far and go from there. Thanks for checkin it out.

The first thing I did was Herculine it. I don't have any before pictures and it's too dark to take any after pictures right now. After that my dad and I monkeyed around with the transmissions for a while. The guy we bought it from threw in the original standard transmission. It had what we think was a AW4 automatic tranny. We attempted to get the BA10 standard tranny rebuilt by a local shop and found out through a friend that the owner was a crook. After 'retrieving' the jeep from him, we proceeded to rebuild it ourselves in the garage. It is in and working fine.
Our next big project was paint. The original paint was ok but we were both big fans of that dark green on the TJ's and tried to make it that color. We went to a local paint shop and picket up a gallon and a half of what looked like it on the paint chip and when we got home and started mixing and did a little test spray on a board we decided it was too light. We went back and asked if they could mix it up a little darker, hoping it was only a shot of black away from the color we wanted and they gave us a couple pints of already mixed up black and told us to pour it in until it looked right to us. So we came home and poured in all in a bucket and started adding black. We got through both cans and decided it was dark enough. We mad a little mess on the porch(stupid us) in the process and started getting ready to paint. We had already removed stickers, flares, hinges, windshield frame, hood, etc and masked off everything else. We started early on the first Sat of my 8th grade spring break. It took way longer than we expected and I think the air compressor kept the neighbors up. We finished up around 3:00 am and went to hardies for a burger. Heres a pic of the engine we bought from a roll over cherokee. We also got his Aisin Warner transmission. Not sure if it's the AX5 or AX15 though. We got it in the back of the truck using the lift at the shop of the place we bought it from. But we didn't have a way to get it out of the back of the truck.

Heres the pics of my dash so far. I should hopefully be finishing them up today. My friend is coming over and I picked up another can of Vinyl and Fabric paint last time my dad and I were out and about. I'm hoping it will be warm enough, because last time I tried it was getting a little chilly, the forecast for today is supposed to be like 70 something.
