89 YJ 4.0 liter swap qestions?

My mechanic is finishing up a 4.0/ AX-15 swap in my 1989 YJ that had a 4.2/ BA-10. He has it running, but it will not cold start without manual priming or ether. Once it starts it runs fine. (It started fine in the Cherokee donor) Fuel pump is a frame mount set up, the pump will only run for a second per key cycle and does not seem to build up enough pressure before crank. Engine and harness are out of an 89 Cherokee (reman. motor with super low miles, looks new).
The second question- transmission mount holes are off by about 8" front to rear. Any easy fix? New crossmember?
Thanks in advance for any ideas you guys might have.
Eric W.

Ok, I will pass that on. Also, we found the trans mount bracket so problem two is solved.

Could be air in the fuel line, so I agree, let it run a bit.
