89 4.2 won't crank in wet weather?
My nephew has an 89 yj with a 4.2 5spd. Sometimes when weather is wet/damp he says engine will spin over but not crank. He has changed dist. cap and it still has same symptoms. Just wondering if anyone had any ideas before I make 40 mile trip to look it over for him.

Tell him to take a spray bottle. Put 5 or 6 tsp of salt in it and fill with water.
Go out at night, spray down the dist cap, wires and plugs and start it up. Report back, the problem should be obvious. |
