'88 YJ engine trouble

Hey, I really hope someone can help me. I have a 1988 YJ that up until yesterday, was running ok. It was stalling at red lights, so I performed the nutter, and it ran like new. Yesterday tried to start her, but she wouldn't catch. Once she did, the engine was choppy and wouldn't stay running. Spark Plugs are brand new.

I looked into the carb, and the stepper pins are fully engaged (to the front) of the carb. The PO has plugged, capped, or just removed vacuum lines. Could this be the problem?

That could be. When's the last time the fuel filter was changed? Could be clogged and it's easy to do

Jets are spraying fuel into the Carb, so could it still be the filter?

choppy when on the pedal or choppy at idle?
Nutter.
Team Rush.
drill idle tubes .
if still Carter clean Idle tubes every 6 months! (field cleaning the carb could save you swearing in the rain)

Was choppy, did the Nutter and was running great. I shut it off and next morning she wouldn't run, engine would cough and idle rough with a miss, then shut down. Carb jets are still spraying fuel, but will not idle

Did you ground the distributor? And are your cap, rotor, and wires new?

My 89 yj stalls sometimes when I back up. Today tho it was stalling when I would come to a stop in drive. It's weird, somedays it runs amazing and others it drives me nuts.

Cap, rotor, and wires are old, but after the Nutter she ran great for weeks without a problem, so the suddenness is what baffles me...

I took off the air cleaner and noticed what looks like oil around my air filter. I talked to a biddy of mine and he said that with what I described, it could be a vacuum problem.

Here is my proposed fix:

1. Get rid of the Carter for the MC2100 kit from ehrmannmp.

2. Team rush mod

Has anyone used ehrmannmp's juice box kit?

Also, with the new Carb, should I keep the original airbox (I have a K&N air filter) or go with the short RAM Spectre kit from ehrmannmp as well?

Oil on the air cleaner assy is probably blowby from the combustion rings. Not a huge deal if so. Run Rotella T through it on the next two oil changes and it will free up the carbon that is preventing them from sealing. I didn't believe my buddy when he said to do this but it really works!
