88 YJ Doesn't Want to Shift Into Gear

First thing in the morning it doesn't want to shift into gear, no grinding, just doesn't want to go into any gear. Don't dare force it, (I know its a crappy tranny). After a while it'll slip into a higher gear only then will it go into first or reverse. Just started this week. Also while on the road it does shift as smoothe as it should.
What can I do ?

Knowledge is what we get from reading the directions.
Experience is what we receive from not reading the directions.

Did you recently change your fluid to a heavier one? I put 80-120 in mine a while back and it wouldn't shift into 2nd until it warmed up. Try draining it and putting new 90 weight. I have an 88 w/ a Pugeuot tranny. Dont know a whole lot about trannys though. Search through the Quadratec BBS also for clues or post a message there also if you havent yet.
