'87 YJ fuel tank pressurized after dropping tank?

I dropped my tank to clean it about a month ago... I noticed that it smells a little like fuel and when I take the cap off the tank it hisses like the tank is pressurized! The other day, the damn thing sputtered, cut off and now won't restart! It's a 1987 YJ with 20 gal plastic tank, Weber 32/36, nuttered 6 cyl.

Why would there be pressure in the tank? I redid all of my lines except the metal ones when I dropped the tank. I need help!

Sounds like you kinked a vent line. Pull it again and see.

Yep, kinked vent would cause alot of this.

So I dropped my tank again, and the vent was pinched. I cut out the pinched section and re-installed the tank. Now the thing will start, but will only run for about a minute and then cut off. If it sits for a few minutes and I pump the gas pedal, it will start again and run for a minute and cut off. What the heck is going on?? Any ideas?

Could it be bad gas after sitting for a few months?

Sounds like it still isn't venting enough. It has a little bit of venting, but not enough to keep it running.

Pumping the gas pedal will use the accelerator pump in the carb to put the last little bit of fuel in the carb into the engine.

Try leaving the gas cap off and see if that helps.

Now you may have pinched a fuel line. Take the fuel line off the carb side of the fuel pump hold it in a container and have some one crank the motor over a couple of times see if you have any gas comming out.
