'87 YJ 4.2L Harmonic Balancer

Hi fellow jeepers.

Please does anyone know where I can get a flat belt harmonic balancer for an '87 4.2L?

I have had two companies send me the wrong thing so far (first it was V belt, then the step was wrong).

check with damperdoctor.com

you will have to call. jeep parts are not listed on their website except as a few AMC versions

I have one I can send you, if you still need one. I just swapped my 4.2 for a 4.0.

I could use thatt harmonic balancer....

Have a Jeep 1990 Wrangler, Laredo, 6 cyl 258 automatic 4.2l engine. Changed the timing chain and the harmonic got damaged. Thanks Steve - email me at steventszabo@gmail.com. Or if anyone has a harmonic balancer they are willing to part with!

you should specify flat belt or V. most are V and I had flat which made it a nightmare.

O'Reily auto has serp/flat belt balances in stock for $45.
I know because I went to buy one but mines a v belt balancer so I couldn't use it, I'm looking for a v belt balancer.

That one above is a 4.0L. The belt won't align. Most list it for a 4.2L but it's not correct. I bought one for a 2.5L and it is the same. I think Morris's was the only place I found it list for both.

AHHH I see excellent info!
I was thinking about converting to a serp set-up, but that still wouldn't work for a conversion?

Morris has the vbelt one too. The OP was talking about a serp set up.

I get searching and all, but bumping a 4 year old thead to offer a part to the OP seems a bit silly.

Fyi, I bought mine from Morris when I converted to serpentine.
