So my '87 has sprung a leak somewhere around the base of the power steering pump housing... I have been feeding it Lucas power steering stop leak for a couple of weeks without luck of stopping the leak. Yeah, I know, I was bamboozled on that stuff! Anyways it now has a squeal and it sounds as if it is harder for the belt to turn the power steering pump. (Possibly due to the increased viscosity of the new fluid?) I looked in the cap and the fluid is moving inside the housing... So should I attack the unit with a new set of seals or just get an entire new housing/ pump?
It is warming up a bit this week so I can finally get outside to get a closer look.
