87 np207 tailpiece compatability

I was changing the transfer case rear output seal on my 87 wrangler (4 banger/stick). It was spewing tranny fluid pretty bad. Before I even started I was feeling around the area and found a big chunk missing from the end of the tail housing, right by the seal. The previous owner tried a jbweld patch...ugh. Anyways the local boneyards (im in CT) only want to sell me a whole transfer case. I was looking at quadratec and found a new tailpiece but its listed as np231, would this be compatable with an np207? thanks

no. i did tried this accidentally. thought i had a np231, bought the tail housing and it wouldn't fit. im sorry to tell you this but NP207 is REALLY hard to find parts for it. well IMO it is. it may be cheaper to just buy a NP231 from a 4 cylinder.
