87 2.5 Liter YJ belt squeel

So I have an 87 YJ with the 2.5 liter and aftermarket a/c. Something that sounds like I'm killing a pig comes from the engine but only when I hit the gas at lower RPMs accelerating. When the lights were on the lights would then get bright quickly at idle. I found that one of the belts was all torn up where the belt actually makes contact with the points. Can anyone tells which belt it is and if its hard to replace? Or how much it cost to pay to replace it? It would be much appreciated.

I recommend replacing that belt that is chewed up. Since you are there you may as well replace the other with a matching brand. Shouldnt be to hard to replace. 30 minutes of time and general hand tools at the most. Once the belt is removed spin all pulleys and see if they spin freely or if they have any side to side movement or can rock back and forth any. If so that needs to be replaced.

That belt needs to be replaced badly before it leaves you stranded!!

The lights are an indication of your alternator not turning quickly enough, when the squealing occurs watch the voltage gauge. If it drops, you've got yourself a loose belt- the chewed up belt needs to be replaced ASAP.

I agree replace the chewed up belt then tighten the belts up.
