8.8 Salvage Yard 'Shopping List'

I'm headed to the salvage yard today to start my 8.8 conversion and since this is the first axle swap I've done, I'm a bit nervous.

If I'm lucky and find a 4.10 8.8 from a 95 to 2001 Explorer, what all should I take with it.

Obviously, axle, disks, brake lines on axle... anything else while I'm there?

Did some searching and I know I'll need to get a 1310 Adapter Flange (I've got an 89 YJ). Can this be removed from a Ford Ranger? I think I read that somewhere...

Any advice on this trip would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Rangers are different. Yes, get the flange too. Look for disk brakes. If you can't find 4.10's, you can always put them in afterwards. They are rare. I don't know about 3.07's. Or you can upgrade to 4.88's!

I'm going to try to find 4.10s. I'll probably do 4.88s in a few years since I don't tow my Jeep anywhere. 200 mile drives require a little fuel efficiency! haha

Disks are definitely a must. Thanks!

get the parking brake cable.

Do everything with a positive attitude, it won't always work but you'll piss enough people off to make it worthwhile.

the voices aren't real but they sure have good ideas.

I used my YJ cables. They work great. But everyone does it differently.

Garage
The flange that comes with the 8.8 is fine, just get the ujoint that adapts 1310 to your driveshaft. Dont forget calipers.
